NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
Motto: The motto of National Service Scheme is NOT ME BUT YOU

The National Service Scheme unit of our College started in 20th January 2023. It is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the students to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service.

NSS Unit Inauguration

The first NSS unit of Paramekkavu College of Arts & Science was inaugurated on 20-01-2023 by Sri. Muhammad Shafiq (IAS), Honourable Sub collector, Thrissur. The function was presided by Dr. M.Balagopal (President, Paramekkavu Devaswom) and a key note address by Sri.G.Rajesh (Secretary, Paramekkavu Devaswom).Dr.Sony.T.L (NSS Programme coordinator, University of Calicut) has address the gathering by a talk on “Role of NSS in Colleges”.
The programme was followed by a seminar on “ANTI DRUG ADDICTION CAMPAIGN, PHASE II” By Sri.Shafeeq Yousef (Vimukthi Coordinator, Thrissur)

Benefits of Being an NSS Volunteer:

An NSS volunteer who takes part in the community service programme would either be a college level or a senior secondary level student. Being an active member, these student volunteers would have the exposure and experience to be the following:
>> an accomplished social leader
>> an efficient administrator
>> a person who understands human nature

ACTIVITIES

Lahariyilla Theruv

The NSS Unit of this College has participated in various activities like ” Lahariyilla Theruv” programme which was organized by Excise Department and NSS of Thrissur District

Punarjani

”Punarjani” is yet another programme organized by Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Thrissur in which volunteers and faculties participated.

Pulwama Attack Commemoration

As a tribute to indian soldiers who had sacrificed their life in pulwama terror attack, the nss unit in our college had conducted “pulwama attack commemoration” Day on feb 14th. An online session was arranged and lieutenant colonel. Dinesh thonur had address the gathering.

Agricultural activities of NSS volunteers in campus

Our NSS Unit had attended a training programme in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thrissur. The session includes a talk on importance of Agriculture in day today life and the measures need to be taken before starting Agriculture in Home/College. Another session includes a talk about precautions to be taken while dealing with pets.
